Age 56 - last period at 55 - first symptoms at 43

I didn't know much about menopause or perimenopause at all, so when I started getting heavy periods I had no idea why. I ended up being diagnosed with endometritis and had a laparoscopy at age 48. I have suffered from memory issues for probably 6 years but didn't know it was perimenopause related. I am learning as I go about it all. I've had terrible symptoms and ailments, including chronic vulvodynia after getting a UTI 3.5 years ago. Apparently my skin was thin due to lack of oestrogen. I'm still suffering from the pain despite having nerve pain medication, creams and tablets. Sex has become painful and I have no libido. It's depressing when I think of it and I feel bad for my loving partner, though he is very understanding. I would like to see more education for everyone, not just women, to understand what women are going through and that we need help and understanding. It shouldn't be secret women's business. We need people to speak openly about it to raise awareness.
