Age 56 - last period at 54 - first symptoms at 45
I have experienced trouble sleeping, more sweating than usual, general feelings of anxiety and tiredness and weight gain.
Menopause has brought on a lot of medical intervention. My Gp finally convinced me to start HRT probably 6 years ago telling me that “ I didn’t have to put up with the symptoms” which is a refreshing way to look at women’s health as we tend to have an attitude that we have to bear all the things that go along with our health.
I had mixed reactions to HRT patches and had to change to Estrogel gel and progesterone tablets which were recommended by a friend. The chats I had with friends about the HRT they were on was invaluable.
I have not enjoyed all the medical intervention that has been required (ultrasounds) and visits to clinics to get checks for skin changes. I am in a fortunate position to be able to afford these medical interventions, which for me has included a D&C to determine causes of spotting/bleeding. Also the cost of monthly HRT (currently $50+ monthly).
The other change has been food and alcohol intolerances and having to change diet and exclude the things I can no longer tolerate.
