Age 41 - Last period at 37 - First symptoms at 32
I was put into medicated Menopause at 32 due to severe endometriosis via the Zoladex injection. At 34 I did IVF to start my family and had twin girls, 18 months later I became pregnant naturally with a little boy at 37 yrs. 6 months after his birth I started back on Zoladex again until my total surgical hysterectomy (including both ovaries, tube's and uterus) at 39 years old. Compared to the experiences I had with endometriosis I felt ok whilst on Zoladex but once the ovaries were removed it was entirely different. I felt I was somewhat prepared for Menopause but after my surgery it was a whole new level of nightmare. I began having anxiety, and struggled to function whilst juggling caring for 3 children under 4 years.
The hardest part for me was finding a doctor that listened to me and not constantly getting told to give it time at appointments every few months, when I was seeking HRT support. I found the support was not there as it was hard to explain to others what I was feeling. I feel more support from doctors especially after being put into surgical Menopause needs to be addressed and all the 'wait and see how you respond' attitude makes it much harder to deal with.
