Age 54 - still menstruating - first symptoms at 45
I have found perimenopause very hard so far. I have had vague symptoms that have affected my quality of life for years that upon reflection were perimenopause. These include joint pain, migraines, weight gain, disrupted sleep and anxiety. Now as I am hopefully nearly menopausal, I feel that it has been and is still very difficult. I find it is still hard to discuss with family to explain why I feel the way I do.
Finding a good GP / women’s health specialist has been crucial. My concerns were originally not taken seriously or looked at holistically as stemming from hormones / perimenopause.
I have learnt alot from the internet in regards to diet and exercise. More needs to be discussed around the workplace and menopause. Women need help with managing symptoms at work etc.
